DQE may return geocoding results at city level when more precise coordinate information is not available for the submitted address. This behavior is intended to provide the best available geographic information rather than returning no result.
Why city-level geocoding is returned
- street-level coordinates are not available;
- the address cannot be matched with sufficient precision;
- the address is incomplete;
- available geocoding data only supports city-level positioning;
- the quality of the address does not allow reliable street-level geolocation.
What this means
City-level geocoding indicates that DQE could identify the locality but could not determine reliable coordinates for the exact address or street location.
How to improve geocoding precision
- Provide the full street address whenever possible.
- Verify the postal code and locality.
- Correct spelling issues before submitting the request.
- Use validated address data as input for geocoding.
When to contact DQE Support
If you expect street-level geocoding for a specific address, provide the complete address, the returned result, the expected level of precision, and the request timestamp.
