DQE may return an email status that differs from what you expected when the address, domain, mailbox, or validation context does not provide enough information to confirm the result with certainty.
Why this can happen
- the email address format is valid but the mailbox cannot be confirmed;
- the domain exists but applies private or restrictive validation policies;
- the domain configuration changed recently;
- temporary DNS or network conditions affect validation;
- the address contains a typo that still looks technically valid;
- the result depends on the validation level or service configuration used.
What to check first
- Verify the spelling of the full email address.
- Check whether the behavior is specific to one domain.
- Test several addresses from the same domain when possible.
- Compare the result with another known valid email address.
- Confirm that the correct DQE service, environment, and licence are used.
Domain-specific behavior
Some domains intentionally limit the information available during validation. In these cases, DQE may return a conservative status rather than confirming a mailbox that cannot be verified reliably.
When to contact DQE Support
If the returned status appears incorrect, provide the submitted email address, the returned status, the expected status, the request timestamp, the environment, and any sample responses available.
