DQE may normalize an address to match postal reference data and deliverability rules. As a result, the returned address can differ from the original input while still referring to the same deliverable location.

Why normalization happens

  • standardization of street names and address components;
  • postal formatting rules;
  • correction of spelling or formatting issues;
  • alignment with reference postal data;
  • removal of unnecessary information.

Common examples

  • abbreviations expanded or standardized;
  • postal codes corrected;
  • locality names standardized;
  • address lines reorganized into a postal format.

French postal addresses

For French postal addresses, DQE relies on La Poste reference data to determine whether an address is deliverable and to return a normalized postal format.

When to contact DQE Support

If you believe the normalized address is incorrect, provide the original input, the returned result, the expected result, the request timestamp, and the environment where the issue occurred.
