Why does DQE return 0,0 coordinates?

  • Updated

DQE may return 0,0 coordinates when no reliable geocoding information is available for the address submitted. This result indicates that the service could not determine usable geographic coordinates for the input.

Why this can happen

  • the address is incomplete or cannot be matched with enough confidence;
  • the address can be validated but no coordinate information is available;
  • the available data does not provide a reliable location for the street or address level;
  • the input contains inconsistent postal code, locality, or street information;
  • the address is outside the geocoding coverage available for the requested location.

What 0,0 means

The value 0,0 should not be treated as a real location. It means that DQE did not return valid coordinates for the submitted address.

What to check

  • Verify that the address is complete and correctly spelled.
  • Check that the postal code and locality match the street address.
  • Test whether the address can be validated before using geocoding results.
  • Remove extra information that is not part of the postal address.

When to contact DQE Support

If you believe coordinates should be available, provide the full input address, the DQE response, the expected result, the request timestamp, and the environment used for the request.
